Thanks for joining me for the Tic Tac Toe April Blog Hop from the great group at One Stamp At A Time (OSAT). Don’t forget to scroll to the bottom for a complete supply list, and to click the next button to check out Lea‘s creations.

So lets jump right in! Today’s card and project and a belated birthday gift and card for a crafty friend. I hope she loves them. Both are fun mixed media type of collage pieces. The card actually uses EVERYTHING in the tic tac toe board except sequins. Can you believe that?!?Stampin Up, Happy Patterns, Botanical Builders, Antique Brads, Mixed MediaWhat do you think? I sponged the flowers with crumb cake to make them look a bit vintage.Stampin Up, Happy Patterns, Botanical Builders, Antique Brads, Mixed Media

Do you like the sparkly background?!? I sponged Craft White ink using the diamond happy patterns decorative mask and then sprinkled Iridescent Ice embossing powder on it and heat set it. I love the sparkle.card close up

I used my favorite Clear Wink of Stella brush bed on the flowers and used the small antique brads for the center of the flowers. I also looped some linen thread behind the flowers to pull it all together. I hope you love it.

Now, my project is a framed 9″ x 9″ collage. It’s hard to get a good picture while it’s in the frame, so I’ll give some close ups without the frame.Stampin Up, Happy Patterns, Botanical Builders, Antique Brads, Mixed Media

I used my occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs to create a collage background on top of watercolor paper.Stampin Up, Happy Patterns, Botanical Builders, Antique Brads, Mixed Media

Since my crafty friend is also a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I printed out life-sized pictures of a classic stampin pad and bone folder and sponged the edges and mounted them with dimensionals. I also used an extra embellishment container in the lower left.project background

The background uses the same diamond pattern from the Happy Patterns masks, but I used some texture paste to make it dimensional, and then I sprinkled Iridescent Ice embossing powder on it and heat set it.  Do you see the pretty colors? I made some alcohol colored mists using my ink refills and alcohol ink to add some Blushing Bride, Bermuda Bay, and Mint Macaron to the background.Stampin Up, Happy Patterns, Botanical Builders, Antique Brads, Mixed MediaI added lots of buttons and flowers from the Botanical Builders set to add some interest and I ripped my sentiment directly out of the catalog. I figured the extra embellishments really fit with this sentiment. 🙂 I used burlap ribbon, mint macaron lace, sahara sand lace, etc. Lots and Lots to look at. I hope you enjoyed my project!

  1. Lol, that sentiment on your project really made me chuckle. Your friend will love this. I especially love the glitter heat set background on your card, something I can’t wait to try.

  2. Wow Elizabeth! That card is absolutely stunning! I love that you used white for the leaves. It is just extremely classy!! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that shadow box! Did I mention I LOVE it?? I feel a need to case all of the above! You rocked the hop lady!

  3. Oh my goodness! Let me pick my jaw up off the floor first. Wow, I LOVE the background on your card.. I am not into sparkly stuff but wow! that is amazing.. so are the flowers, ohhh so pretty. Your project frame for your friend………….. I don’t know what to say ~ I but she’ll be speechless as well. What an awesome gift for a friend. Thanks for sharing all this goodness with us all. hugs, Pam

  4. your handiwork is always so detailed and so well thought out. I also love how you used white for the leaves I never would have thought of that and it looks great. The sponging on the flowers do make them look vintage and the brads tie that all together. Your friend will get a chuckle at all the real life stampin up! action going on in that shadow bow…well played my friend!

  5. OMG Elizabeth I absolutely love that shadow box. i never think of doing anything like that. I really really really love it so i must come up with some ideas and try one of these shadow box things soon. And your card is beautiful!!! I have those masks and haven’t even tried them out yet. So here i go……

  6. ALL of the tic-tac-toe board except for sequins?! You went above and beyond Elizabeth. I am crazy for that background you made on your card. It’s fantastic! Both your card and project are outstanding! Thanks for the inspiration.
